Wallace and Gromit to Tell Episodic Tales in New Game Series

I’ve been a fan of Wallace and Gromit for many a year. I bought an enjoyed their previous attempt at entry to videogaming (“Wallace and Gromit: Project Zoo”), but platforming didn’t seem like the perfect fit for them.

Todays news that Telltale Games is working on an episodic Adventure game ala Sam & Max, or the upcoming Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People. Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures will put you in control of both Wallace and Gromit, as they “engage in zany entrepreneurial schemes and tinker with kooky contraptions”.

No release date has been announced, but stay tuned to this site for updates!

E3: New Xbox 360 Dashboard Interface; Avatar Party System

Take a look at the new vision of the Xbox 360 Dashboard. First thing you might notice is the little man trapped in that crowded box. He’s part of the new Gamertag Identity. You can call him an “Avatar” while I will call him “Shapstick”. You can personalize your own “avatar” to look however you want. Give him a top hat, a rocking polo, and some kickin’ sneakers and he’ll sport the winning attitude that say “I’m ready to accept your friend request!”.

Once you have your avatar made, you can meet up with up to 8 other avatars of your friends from your Xbox Live Friend’s list and join a global party. This means you are in a group that can take you anywhere on the system without separating you from your buddies.

Some new things you can do is watch Netflix Movies together (if you all have Netflix accounts), or play in New Xbox Live Gameshows called: Xbox Live Primetime. These games will be streamed, rather than boxed or XBLA games. The party will exist even if you’re all playing different games, in which it will act as an 8 person Chatroom.

Look forward to trapping a tiny persona of your own in a box, when the Dashboard update hits this fall.

E3: Final Fantasy XIII Announced for Xbox 360

In a move that can be best described with the phrase “Oh no he didn’t!” Final Fantasy XIII was announced at the end of the Microsoft Press Conference. Right when the show appeared to be over, the representative from Square Enix came back out and asked Don Mattrick if he could show him one more “movie”. The Final Fantasy XIII trailer rolled, and gamers jaws hit the floor.

Here’s the Trailer:

I’m interested to see how Sony will counter this one!

E3: Xbox 360 Game Installations and Web Based Marketplace Planned

Something not mentioned at todays press conference, but picked up later in a press release  was interesting news of some new features coming to Xbox 360 and a PC near you!

  • Play from hard drive. You’ll be able to copy game discs to your Xbox 360 hard drive. Installing the games will prevent wear ‘n tear on the disc drive, and will shorten load times. You will still need the disc in the disc tray to prove you own the game.
  • Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web. If you’re not near your Xbox 360, you can still use this “Internet” thing to browse and purchase things from the Marketplace. Once you purchase something from Xbox.com, it will download automatically to your console while you’re away.
  • Xbox LIVE Primetime. This is a “whole new category of games” that not only supports Achievements and leaderboards, but will also offer real prizes. Games are played throughout the Xbox LIVE network and each game is “broadcast simultaneously” so that everyone is partaking in the same activity. These events can feature live hosts, “calling the shots as they happen.”

These features will hit with the Fall Dashboard update.
